　　Charania added that the trade talks are fluid—could involve player packages, draft picks, or a mix. If no deal materializes, Watson will likely accept Denver’s one-year, $6.5 million qualifying offer.

　　Take that route, and Watson becomes an unrestricted free agent next summer. Sound familiar? It’s basically the same tug-of-war Jonathan Kuminga had with the Warriors over contract numbers.

　　At 23, Watson is arguably the most intriguing free agent still on the board in the 2026 offseason. He had a breakout year in 2025-26—despite missing games due to injury, he played 54 contests and put up 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.

　　A forward with serious “two-way” upside, you’d think teams would be lining up for him. But so far, no new NBA home, no new contract with the Nuggets either.
